I finally got my first PageRank today after four months of blogging. Does that mean that this blog will be PR2 in four months’ time, i.e in June? Let’s see. I certainly want to work towards that though.

Puzzled By Macro Photos
February 26, 2008
Close up picture of jigsaw puzzle, inspired by a visitor on my Flickr page.

Hey, if you have photographed close-up shots puzzles before, I’m interested to see them.

Loose Fabrics And Dry Leaves
February 24, 2008
It just occurred to me that perhaps I could take a brilliant picture — at least in terms of colours — from dry leaves and fabric leftovers.

I’m quite pleased with the result although a more experienced photographer would have taken a better picture.

Seeking Divine Intervention
February 23, 2008
As I mentioned last week, I went to Batu Caves not far from the city of Kuala Lumpur, for some photo shoot.

The sky was gloomy and threatened to rain but thankfully the weather cleared up when I reached the cave’s vicinity. I parked the car took out my point-and-shoot camera and snapped away like a mad tourist.

I was mindful though because not only that Batu Caves — literally Caves of Stone — a tourist spot, it is also a place of worship.

What wide angle pictures are doing on a macro photography blog, you might ask. It’s just routine.

When I started this blog, I had allocated the weekends to post pictures in the “When Not Taking Macro, I Shoot The…” series, which used to appear without fail every weekends.

How I wish I had a high sensitivity camera… My next project would be to shoot scenarios around the Malaysian 12th general election. If I had the time.
100-Year-Old Grave Exhumed
February 22, 2008
[UPDATED: This entry has attracted a considerable interest among Macro Photography Blog readers. I've posted several more pictures on the exhumation work].
Original posting: This is a close-up picture of a six-feet-deep grave, an old one, after exhumation. It’s a 100-year-old-grave of a warrior whom the family member wanted to rebury in his homeland. I was there to witness and document the whole process.
To respect the family of the dead, however, I won’t be able to show the whole process without showing the faces of those involved. Even this one, I’ve had to crop it to make sure that none of the faces are shown.
Still, six feet is not that far down, isn’t it?
Padi Seedlings
February 17, 2008
This is a close-up picture of paddy seedlings, the ones that will eventually grow into bright shimmering green paddy stalks, from which rice would be harvested three months later.
This picture is taken from my old folks’ paddy field in the northern part of my homestate Sabah, the Malaysian state on Borneo island.
With a digital camera in hand, you tend to see many things in terms of digital images.
The fact is, you can turn almost everything into a subject for photography. You just need to be alert a bit and to always see things through the lens of a digital camera.

I see things in four-thirds all the time and my mind keep on composing pictures of thing that my eyes see.
Photoshoot: Batu Caves
February 16, 2008
I’ve got the whole weekend to spend as I please, so I’ll probably spend it shooting pictures. Maybe somewhere around Batu Caves, not far from Kuala Lumpur.
Fly Past Your Photos With PicLens
February 13, 2008
Stunning. Imagine having hundreds of your photos pasted beautifully in a row of three on the wall of a very long corridor and you were running in ecstacy from one end of the corridor to another, passing hundreds of your photos.
Imagine having the ability to fly from one photo to another like a bird flying from one flower to another. In between, you’d stop every now and then to examine a particular picture and then make a dash again to the other end of the corridor.
That’s how I felt when I first run PicLens, a very nice addon to Firefox browser.
And you’d never get tired because you can actually do all that sitting in front of your computer, just by move the arrow key up, left, left or right. That is if you have pictures stored on SmugMug, Flickr, Photobucket and DeviantArt.
You can also do that if your are browsing Google or Yahoo! images. And if you are using Firefox browser.
Piclens is currently works on:
* Flickr, Smugmug, DeviantArt, Photobucket, Picasa
* Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, Friendster
* Image search on Google, Yahoo, Ask, Live, and AOL
* A growing number of Media RSS-enabled web sites

Make Money Online Selling Photos?
February 7, 2008
This is a close up picture of a coin worth 10 Malaysian sen or about 0.308 cent US.
Nothing was going through my mind when I took the picture, until today when the question, “Can I make money online selling photos?” came to me like a revelation.
I definitely want to explore the possibility of making money online not only through blog advertising and other income stream related to blogging, but also to be able to sell photos online.
I did some Googling and came across several sites which I intend to explore shortly. Among them Shutterstock, Photopreneur and Photosecrects.
I shall be writing more about this in the weeks to come as I go along experimenting how to earn some income from my photo-taking hobby.
