I’ve been waiting for this December since September, the month Canon announced the PowerShot SX1 IS and SX10 IS, which collectively replace the S5 IS.
While the SX10 IS has already been released, its presumably more expensive cousin, the CMOS sensor-equipped SX1 IS, will only be released this month.
Users of the SX10 IS have been saying good things about their cameras, which in a way, help fuel the anticipation for the SX1 IS. You know, if the SX10 IS can do this and that, what more the SX1 IS… that sort of anticipation.
I’ve already decided to buy the SX1 IS and nothing more can change my mind, not even the prospect of having less money to spend when I travel back to my home state in Borneo in about three weeks from now.
I can see myself to be among the first in the queue to buy the camera when it becomes available in my area, say within the next one or two weeks.
There are four things I like about the SX1 IS — its wide-angle to super telephoto zoom lens, CMOS sensor (which is a first in Canon compact camera), 4fps continuous shooting and ability to shoot HD video.
I’ve done some recce around the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur where I plan to take the camera for a photohunt and will definitely come up with a user review once I had the camera.
I just hope it will be available in the store before my trip to Borneo. I would really love to take the camera for a photohunt in my home state, do some birding with it and so on.
