Fly Me To The Moon…

This is about the closest to the moon the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS and SX10 IS could get. With a teleconverter, one could zoom in further into the crate.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to attach a teleconverter in both cameras, which is a pity because I really want to get real close to the moon. The new Olympus SP 590UZ, scheduled to enter the market in March, should be able to do that.

Hi Ashok, this entry was written in January, less than two weeks after the SX1 IS was released and just several week after the SX10 IS entered the market. At that time there were a lot of questions whether owners can attach anything to the camera and there was a general conclusion that there was no way to do that.

Nine months later, you can attach everything you want to it… teleconverter, super macro converter and all kinds of screw in filters.

Nope, you are not missing something. It’s just me, I have not updated the entry…

I am curious as to why you cannot attach a teleconverter lens to the SX10 IS. I have been looking at the Canon TC-DC58C teleconverter lens and using a 52mm to 58mm adapter ring (I attach a 58mm filter to my SX10 IS) one could possibly attach the teleconverter lens to the SX10 IS. Am I missing something here?
