Bokeh With Canon PowerShot SX1 IS

in Tips and Tricks

This is the first time that I have shot photographs with the mission of achieving “bokeh” effect. Apparently with point-and-click cameras, bokeh can only be achieved relatively “easy” when shooting in macro.

All three photos are shot in manual mode, with the ISO set at 80 but the SX1 IS automatically “powered it up” to ISO 200. Luckily the photos are almost noise-free.

I think that leaves are durian leaves. Right?

No.. these are “male” mango leaves, lots of leaves but no fruits. I’m putting the mango to death

Nice photos! By the way, mango trees have male and female in one tree. All you need to do is to remove the leaves (not all, but make it less crowded) and put some fertilizers to produce flowers. Hope the tree is still there.

m Shah,

Thank you for the tip about turning male mangoes into female. Didn’t know that this can be done. The tree is no longer there; someone had poisoned it…
