Mantis Macro

This close-up picture of a mantis is not taken with a point and shoot camera of course. Frankly, I don’t think there are point and shoot cameras out there which are able to execute shots like this.

If there are such a compact camera, I have not come across them.

This is exactly the kind of picture I want to shoot and display in this blog but have not been able to enjoy the luxury of owning a DSLR so far.

I therefore no longer look forward to buying any of the compact cameras, either those already in the market or those shipping in the next few weeks unless they are using DSLR sensors in them.

My next camera will definitely be a DSLR — any decent “high-end entry level” DSLR will do — probably along the lines of Olympus E-620.

Speaking of DSLR cameras, have you heard any rumours yet of a Canon 450D upgrade? Someone speculated it to be Canon 500D. Then there is also the talk of a Nikon D400 coming into the market soon.

Anyway, this picture is taken by my younger brother using his Nikon D300. You see, my brother has a better camera than I do. Sigh!

I’m sure you have noticed by now, but you are correct! the Canon 500 is out, along with full HD capabilities.

I personally don’t want video on my camera, because I feel that it would somewhat take away from the photo aspects to compensate for the video.
