Sony introduced this week what looks like a winner in the wide-angle compact camera segment in the form of Cyber-shot WX1 (24 – 120mm)
This is the second camera to feature the sweep panorama technology that was first introduced in the HX1 superzoom camera.
At the heart of camera is a brand new “Exmor R” CMOS sensor which Sony says allow for better low light performance. The camera also “inherited” the HX1’s fast 10 frames-per-second continuous shooting.

Other wide angle camera coming into the market soon are Panasonic Lumix DCM-ZR1 (25 – 200mm) and Olympus FE-5020 (24 – 120mm).
