I have a few more days to decide whether to buy the Pentax K-7 and the nearer the deadline is, the more I read online trying to find out what exactly is this magnesium-alloy-bodied K-7 is capable of.
In the absense of definitive reviews among my top and trusted camera review sites — I’m sure they are working on it right now but I just can’t wait a few weeks more, or else I may end up spending the money on something else — I can only rely on forum and reviews posted by K-7 owners and reviews by other sites.
There is a general issue about the K-7′s images being noisy above ISO 800 while others mention about “vertical line” problem, which somewhat dampens my enthusiasm towards the camera. Most users, however, are all praise for the camera, giving me reason enough to choose the higher-priced K-7 over two entry level models — the EOS 500D and Nikon D5000.
This morning, I went over at PentaxForum and found that a SLR photographer of 30 years and point and shoot user for many years had posed a dilemma which pretty much sums up my own — to K-7 or not to K-7.
He said he recently stumbled upon a comparison of shots taken with the K-7 and the Nikon D3x and said he was surprised at how well the K-7 held up against the more expensive D3x.
“Is the K7 a best-kept secret?” he asked. I’m asking that same question.
I can already see myself holding the camera. Even now, I am contemplating the possibility of buying a Lensbaby Composer for Pentax K mount Digital SLR Cameras to go with the K-7. For those of you who have voted to help me choose which camera I should go for, I thank you. It looks like most of you agree that I should go for the K-7.
