Nikon D3s’ ISO 102400, How’s That For A High Sensitivity?

I’m sure by now many of the expletives found on the dictionary would have been uttered by people who are awestruck by Nikon D3s’ high ISO capabilities.

At ISO 102400, the D3s is indeed breaking new grounds and once again setting the trend for high ISO performance. Who can forget when Nikon first pull the ISO 12800 stunt several years ago, leaving its competitors gasping for many months before one of them was able to catch up.

If consumers thought that ISO 25600 would be the next ISO milestone, Nikon surprised them with a machine so sensitive to light that it banishes ISO 3200 into the era of digital camera dinosaur.

How do you describe the new ISO height? I have no word for it, except to borrow a phrase from Mitch Albom, “If Sept. 11 was the day we never saw coming, Sept. 10 was the day we will never see again.”

“If 102400 is the ISO we never saw coming, 3200 is the ISO, hopefully, we never see again.”
