DP Review is a site not known to fool around, even on April Fool’s Day but the timing of the new Canon EOS 550D/T2i review — published today, April 1 — makes you feel this could be one of those. Thankfully it is not.
It’s a 30-page write-up in the usual style of DPReview. In it’s camera comparison section, it pit the EOS 550D against rivals Nikon D5000 and Pentax K-x as well as the model it has upgraded from, the 500D. There’s also a high ISO shootout among the 550D, K-x and 500D.
From the looks of it, both the newer 550D and the K-x are no match for the older 500D at ISO 6400 and 12800. The review praises the K-x as having the best combination between smoothness and detail retention at ISO 6400.
Of course, there is no need to rub salt into the high ISO wounds of K-7 owners, yours truly included.
