“Macro” seems to be a feature taken much for granted in compact cameras, perhaps for a reason… there isn’t a lot one can do to prop up the feature, except making compact cameras shoot at a distance of 1cm.
So how does the new Panasonic LX5 fare in macro shooting? According to Panasonic.net: “The DMC-LX5 lets you get as close as 1 cm to your subject. When the focus switch on the lens barrel is set to AF-Macro, or when the iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode is selected, Macro Mode is activated automatically. This is ideal for taking dynamic, intricate close-ups of flowers and insects, or for rendering artwork and handicrafts in spectacular detail and rich expression.”
The LX5 does not offer macro zooming feature.
