Pentax currently has three flash units namely the “entry level” AF-200FG P-TTL, the slightly more advanced albeit tilt-only AF-360 FGZ Autofocus P-TTL flashgun and top of the line AF-540 FGZ P-TTL tilt-and-swivel flashgun. For macro flash there is AF160FC Auto Macro Ring Flash. Here are some of third party lenses for Pentax:
Metz Mecablitz
If the Pentax flashguns’ age is of any concern — the AF-360 and AF-540 are about four years old — there are newer top-of-the-line third party lenses available, the latest are the Mecablitz 58 AF-2 and Mecablitz 50 AF-1.
The Mecablitz 58 AF-2 is an upgrade of the Mecablitz 58 AF-1, winner of EISA Award for “best flash unit in Europe 2007/2008″ while the Mecablitz 50 AF-1 is the upgrade to the Mecablitz 48 AF-1, winner of the TIPA Award for “best photographic accessory 2008”. Vivitar flash for Pentax
There are also other “budget” third party lenses available for Pentax cameras and one of them is from Vivitar.
At half the price of Pentax top of the line AF-540, you can have Vivitar flashguns for Pentax all ready to bounce, tilt and swivel.
Sigma flash for Pentax
And then there are also the Sigma flashes for Pentax. One of the better Sigma flashes for Pentax must be the Sigma EF-530 DG Super Electronic Flash for Pentax and Samsung DSLR.
So, there you go, the third party lenses for Pentax. I am seriously considering the Made in Germany Mecablitz, particularly the 58 AF-2.
