Cameras With Tilt-Swivel, Variangle LCD Screen 2010

Swivelling LCD screens are slowly moving up the value chain, with Canon adopting the feature in its latest DSLR, the EOS 60D. Articulating LCD screens are no longer for the “faint-hearted” as was the contention in the past but rather, a necessity, especially now with HD videos becoming a permanent feature of what many would now call a “modern” DSLR.

About a year ago, I posted a list of cameras with tilt-and-swivel LCD screen. I guess, it’s time to update the list. One important thing to note is that the number of cameras with articulating LCD screens produced so far in 2010 equals the number produced during the 2008-2009.

Here is a list of cameras with tilt-and-swivel LCD screen released so far in 2010 and their release dates, in no particular order:

That does look like an awesome option, but with a baby on the way I’ll probably go with the older G12 to save some money, lol. Going to check it out at a local store today to see how I feel about it!

Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks again for the lists!

Becky, the upcoming Canon G1X with swivel screen will be a good option.

Add me to the praise!! I too have an extremely aged Canon A series that I still love, but is unfortunately dying. With a little one on the way a new camera is a must, and I can’t imagine not having a swivel screen after so many years with one! Thank you so much for your lists!

    Andi,

Fuji HS10, how could I left that out; thanks for pointing that out.

    Willow,

I’ve updated the list for 2011, here:

THANK YOU! I too have an elderly Canon A-series, which has lasted through three kids and two trips abroad. Now I’m conducting archival research for a living and need a better camera but I CANNOT give up that little flip screen. If sitting around ruffling through old musty papers all day wasn’t bad enough, try adding bending over and twisting to get the best shot in low light for seven or eight hours straight! Unfortunately I didn’t stumble across your article until I had already spent most of yesterday researching this very topic — and you still beat anything I came up with by a mile! Thank you so much, and I eagerly await your 2011 list :)

This has to be one of the coolest articles on the entire Internet.

I have a Canon Powershot A630 that’s a little worse for the wear after 6 long years of use and abuse. I wanted an equivalent with the articulated screen and you just saved me hours of searching with one post.

    Thank you! : )
