I bet you already know how I took these pictures of a rotating fan. For those who don’t, no prize for guessing how these were taken. Of course, you’d gain little from knowing how to shoot these pictures except that you can now shoot fan pictures in a different way. This “technique” may be useful, however, when taking other rapid-moving subjects at night; I don’t know. I haven’t tried this beyond shooting the fan in my living room.

People say you can achieve the same look and feel of photos taken with a Lensbaby using photo editing software like Photoshop but nothing beats going out to the field and actually take the photos with the lens.

That said, it doesn’t mean that one cannot subject a photo taken with the Lensbaby lens to a further post processing. The photo below is taken with the Pentax K-7 with the Lensbaby Composer mounted, and edited using GIMP photo editing software in an attempt to mimic the effect of a lomo camera.

Here is a tutorial on how achieve lomo effect using GIMP. Again, nothing beats taking photos using an actual lomo camera but until the time when I have one, I will have to be contented with post processing the photo to give it some lomo looks.

Flickr has recently reached five billion images, making it among the most popular photo-sharing website though not as popular as Facebook. Flickr’s photo inventory has been growing at a steady one-billion image per year, according to Media Culpa.

Speaking of photographs, it’s been quite a while since last posted images on this blog. Here are some recent uploads on my Flickr account.

The disuse 120-year-old Pudu Jail in the heart of Kuala Lumpur is currently in the process of being torn down. I’ve been trying to enter and photograph the inner sanctum where the hardest of criminals had been kept, but to no avail.

So I was left with little option but to photograph just the outer prison wall. Recently, members of a lomography club in Kuala Lumpur pasted hundreds of photographs and attracted attention from passers-by, including the media.

I came there the next day to see what the fuss was all about but many of the lomos had been torn down; except for some.

But my model was reluctant to pose, and I became too self-conscious, with people staring, to be able to take any decent shot.

If the colour looks a bit different, it was because I shot these pictures with in-camera digital filters applied.

It maybe thousands of miles from where I currently live but the wedding of Chelsea Clinton captures the imagination of the people here nonetheless. Here are some of the pictures of Chelsea Clinton’s wedding available in public domain which I can reproduce here without running into copyright issues.

I wonder what cameras they use for the official wedding pictures.

These photos were taken with Pentax K-7 plus the Pentax 100mm f2.8 WR macro lens. The two photos, titled “Remains of a Boot Camp?” and “Tree Hugger” respectively, were taken as the light was dying after the sun set.

I carry a camera almost everywhere and take pictures when I have the chance. Today, as I was driving to work, I saw this accident on the other side of the road. I just took out the camera while driving by. Not sure what happened to the car driver, hope he or she is okay.

The photos were taken with an old Canon PowerShot G6, my carry-everywhere camera.
